Cross-Stitch Designer--Thea Gouverneur

I recently had the opportunity to meet cross-stitch designer Thea Gouverneur, a native of the Netherlands, and her son, Kim, when they visited the States this summer. At that time she unveiled her new piece, “New York, New York,” depicting the skyline of New York City.” When I saw this for the first time all I could say is, “WOW!” She also gives a subtle tribute to 9/11 by showing the outlines of the Twin Towers. It really is a spectacular piece.

You can find this kit on NeedleworkShoppe.com or just click the image.

I am leaving soon for TNNA in St. Charles, Missouri, and can’t wait to share all my exciting finds with you when I return.

Happy Stitching, Gloriann

Discover the new Maia Needlework Collection

I am constantly finding new products, having wonderful conversations with designers and finding helpful tips and techniques. So now I am excited to have this blog to share it all with you! In the last few months I have attended two needlework and craft markets where I have seen many new products and designs. The first new needlework line that comes to mind is the Maia Needlework Collection: “The Art of Embroidery”. This collection includes needlework designs adapted from fine art by some of history’s most well known artists.

From the Maia Needlework Collection:

Symphony in Black was adapted from artwork by Romain de Tirtoff, known as Erté after the French pronunciation of his initials. He was famous for his magazine covers and fashion designs for Harpers Bazaar, as well as exotic costumes and stage sets for theatres such as the Folies Bergère. His unique Art Déco style is well known throughout the world.

Winter’s Majesty was adapted from artwork by Shanghai born Karl Bang. Bang was formally trained in the 1940s by the master artists of Chinese painting and the European painting tradition in France and Belgium. This cross-cultural fusion of styles has earned him the title of “Master of Contemporary Eclecticism” For Karl, painting women goes much deeper than their outer beauty. He sees women as epitomizing the gentler instincts of humankind – gentility, truth, and inner strength.

Currently on NeedleworkShoppe.com, I have six pieces from the Maia Needlework Collection that are all just a click away. Watch for many more to come in the future!
